Installation of the Print Software

Detailed below are the steps that should be taken when installing the Print Software. Some of these steps may or may not apply depending on your system configuration.

Install and configure network.

Objective: the Snap and Print machines must be able to see each other over the network. In addition to this, the Snap machine must be able to save files to a hard disk drive on the Print machine.

  1. Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network
  2. Install "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" network so that a folder on this machine can be shared
  3. Create a folder and in this subfolders for each scene in the system. Share the root folder so that the Snap machine can see it. Make sure that write access is allowed for this folder. in Windows Millenium, this can be done by selecting Access Type = Full.

Configure VGA Cards in the system

  1. This can usually be done in Settings/Control Panel/Display

Install SCSI Driver for SCSI Interface Card (if using SCSI printers)

  1. Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add New Hardware Wizard...
  2. Choose existing PCI SCSI bus Controller card if listed in Devices found (with yellow exclamation mark).
  3. You will have to install the drivers at this point. Click on Reinstall Drivers on the General Properties page for the driver.
  4. Specify the folder in which the driver is installed (Disk labelled: 7800 Family Manager Set Lite v3.03 (Microsoft Windows 95/98) amongst the other Windows OSs. It should find the correct model of SCSI driver (Adaptec AHA-2930CU PCI SCSI Controller)
  5. Restart your computer if prompted to do so.
  6. Wire up the SCSI devices so that the SCSI ID's do not conflict and also that the last device is terminated. My printers were set to IDs 4 and 5.

Configure Printers in the system

  1. Install drivers for and configure any printers that you have attached to your system (local and/or networked printers). This can be done by going to Start/Settings/Printers and installing the correct printer driver for your printers.
    1. MY SYSTEM SPECIFICS: Choose Have Disk and then insert the Color Video Copy Processor / Digital Color Printer Driver for Windows 95/98 CPD-04
    2. From the list of list of printers (after confirming that CDP04.INF) is the Install information file, select MITUBISHI CP800DW (SCSI)
  2. Choose the correct port to which your printer is attached.
  3. Configure the printing preferences including the paper size. The paper size for the Mitsubish printers comes in two sizes - L and S. The backside of the paper has the letter of the paper size across it. Choose the correct paper size and make sure you choose the Border option from the Printer Properties/Pager Page. If your images are wider than higher, select the orientation of your paper to be Landscape. It might be wise to test the printer at this point to see if it is functioning correctly by printing a test page.
  4. Repeat this for any additional printers.

Install the Dongle Driver

The software currently does not allow the images to be displayed for printing if the dongle software is not installed.

NOTE: the software actually crashes at this point

Install the Print Software Application

  1. Double click on Print.MSI. This will install the Print Software.
